JULIA STAUB-FRENCH, M.A., R.C.C.

- FSNS, Executive Director

 

As Executive Director at Family Services of the North Shore, Julia Staub-French has overall responsibility for an Agency that has been in existence for over 60 years, has an annual operating budget of 3.1 million, and serves over 7000 people each year. Family Services of the North Shore’s 60 staff and over 300 volunteers provide Counselling, Support and Education so that individuals and families can feel better, do better, and thrive.

Julia’s leadership of the Agency is guided by her belief that her team will do their best work if they are a part of a healthy, inclusive organization that values authentic relationships. Julia held the position of Director of Clinical Programs from 2007-2012 before taking on her current role. Julia has a Master’s Degree in Psychology and is registered as a Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia and licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California. She has worked for various non-profit organizations in the U.S. and Canada over the past 16 years in the areas of Program Management and Development, Clinical Supervision, Training & Education, and Psychotherapy Services.

 

 

VIVIAN MARTIN

- FSNS, Director of Finance

 

Vivian Martin joined Family Services of the North Shore in September 2008 as Manager of Finance. She holds a CMA designation as well as an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Vivian has 14 years of banking experience, primarily in the finance and controllership area.

In 1999, Vivian and her family relocated from Ontario to the North Shore, where she has spent many years in community volunteer leadership roles.  As Director of Finance, Vivian ensures FSNS's sound financial policy practice via her leadership in the annual budget process,  managing and controlling all of the Agency’s finances, preparing the Agency for its annual audit, and ensuring that all regulatory and reporting requirements are met.

 

 

MIMI HUDSON

- FSNS, Director, Community & Provincial Programs

 

Mimi Hudson is an administrator with varied experience in both the not-for-profit and corporate sectors. She has an M.A. in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Mimi has been a parent educator for nearly 20 years and has been a group facilitator and speaker for Family Services of the North Shore most of those years.

First, as a volunteer and then as a staff member at Family Services of the North Shore since 1996, Mimi coordinated the Family Drop-ins and played a key role in the development and operation of an innovative community partnership family resource program, as Coordinator of Westcoast Energy Children’s Centre (now known as I hope family centre). In January 2000, Mimi assumed the position of Parent Education Coordinator; became Manager, Community Education in February 2001 and Manager, Education Programs in June 2006. Since January 2007, Mimi has been the Director of Community Programs. Recently, her title was changed to Director, Community & Provincial Programs to reflect the provincial scope of the agency.

Community & Provincial Programs include: Parent Education including the Parent-Child Mother Goose program; I hope family centre and its many integrated programs, as well Jessie’s Legacy , with the provincial mandate for eating disorders prevention education, resources and support.

Mimi participates on many community committees concerning programs for children and families on the North Shore. She is on the Board of the BC Association of Family Resource Programs and on the Member Services Committee of her professional association, the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.  

 

MICHELLE TICE

- FSNS, Director of Development


Michelle Tice is a North Shore native, who spent her school years in the community.  Since then, Michelle has travelled extensively, living, working and studying in several different countries and numerous cities until she finally returned to the North Shore with her family in 2012. Michelle holds a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, a BA in International Relations from UBC and has over 16 years of experience in corporate, non-profit and independent consulting environments.

Before joining Family Services of the North Shore, Michelle ran her own marketing and communications consulting business and was the Director of Communications at West Point Grey Academy.  Prior to this, Michelle spent 13 years with Intrawest Corporation in key marketing and sales roles, culminating in Vice President, Revenue Management and Distribution, and had also previously worked as a Management Consultant in Toronto with Ernst & Young, specializing in the Financial Services Industry.

As Director of Development, Michelle’s role is to grow the Agency's fundraising and sustainability strategies through the development of a comprehensive fund development plan as well as lead the social media strategy and implementation for the Agency.

 

KAREN WHITE

- FSNS, Director of Clinical Programs

 

Karen White brings a varied career background in business, teaching, and counselling to her position as Director of Clinical Programs. Her business background included owning and managing a small business in Seattle, Washington for five years before moving on to her career in teaching. She taught in both public and private school systems in the U.S. and Canada, and worked extensively with adolescents struggling with learning, behavior and emotional challenges. Realizing her passion for helping people of all ages reach their true potential in life, she entered graduate school at UBC and received her Master’s in Counseling Psychology in 2003. After completing her internship practicum at Family Services of the North Shore, she returned six months later to work as a counsellor in the Family Preservation Program. Since then, Karen has provided counselling to children and adolescents in our Sexual Abuse Intervention Program, coordinated the Graduate Internship Program, and managed both the Community Counselling and Child and Youth Counselling & Prevention programs. Karen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with extensive training in both Trauma and Couple’s Therapy, and has also taught adult students in the Counselling Skills Program at Vancouver Community College. As Director of Clinical Programs, Karen will guide and support the clinical staff as they continue to meet the growing needs of a diverse North Shore community.
